7 out of 10 people think that writing is a daunting task. So I prepared this short guide on how to become a better writer and end writer’s block forever.
Here are my recommendations that can help you get started:
Planning ahead before writing an article is essential to ensure that the article is well-written and organized. It allows you, the writer to think through the structure of the article, decide which points to include, and determine the best way to present the information.
Planning ahead also helps to save time when it comes to actually writing the article, as the writer has already done the groundwork for the topic.
Additionally, planning ahead will definitely reduce writer's block, as you already put a lot of thinking into the article.
One of the best ways to tackle a writing project is to break it down into smaller tasks. Start by outlining the main points you want to make, then create a timeline for completing each task. This will help you stay organized and focused on the task at hand.
I always design the outline of the text first. Then I fill out the sections that I know quite well, so I can get instant gratification. Lastly, I go to the harder ones and complete them one by one. Once I’m done, I read the entire text and make it more coherent.
On the other hand, breaking down a big problem into smaller parts can be beneficial for mental health. When identifying achievable and realistic goals, it can reduce stress and anxiety instantly.
Writing can be mentally exhausting, so it's important to take regular breaks throughout the process. Take a few minutes to stretch, have coffee or just go out for a quick walk.
I’m not so good at leaving my desk, but trust me, this works. It clears your head and you can come back to your work with fresh eyes.
Additionally, it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Breaks will help you stay focused and productive for longer periods of time.
Getting feedback is an important part of the writing process. It allows you to identify areas of improvement and make changes before submitting your work.
There’s no shame in asking a friend to read your work and provide honest feedback. Pro tip: ask someone who can be honest with you!
Honest frequent feedback can provide valuable insight into how your writing is perceived by others. In addition, it can help you identify areas for improvement.
7 of 10 people struggle with writing, but it doesn't have to be overwhelming.
By planning ahead, breaking down your project into smaller tasks, getting feedback from others, and taking regular breaks, you can become an excellent writer.
